 AR-15!!!
My pop has been talking about getting an AR-15 for awhile now. Being that there was a gun show in town this weekend, we went to look around and had one built at the show. Its freaking awesome and I can't wait to shoot it. Should be able to go shoot this weekend. Its pretty much a custom built gun, DPMS limited run match grade 16" barrel with 1-9 twist, MagPull adjustable stock and gip, Yankee Hill fore-grip with adjustable rails, DPMS trigger system, EOTech holographic sight. We also bought a forward pistol grip with a Streamlight LED spot mount.
It was about $1700 out the door. Really makes me want to get my own assault rifle, but I would probably get an AK-47 just because they are cheaper and to have something different. Plus I think the 7.62x39 round is freaking awesome.

 Re: AR-15!!!
I like DPMS and they are actually located about 45 minutes north of the cities. A friend of a friend made their website and got some cash and a pretty sweet sniper rifle for it. Should be able to find some good prices on that type of ammo as well.
My friend with the M4 also has the EO tech holographic sight and I liked it alot however he didn't have it calibrated right for indoor shooting. He kept saying that it's dead on but his brother and I kept missing everything down to the left so I just shut it off and went with the iron sites. It's nice to have an scope like that so you can have something that calibrated for some wind and then just turn it off quick if you want when the wind dies down instead of having to recalibrate or just compensate.

 Re: AR-15!!!
For what I like to do with these guns, which is hunt varmints, rabbits, hogs, a non-magnified optic is a must. I like being able to keep both eyes open, and it makes firing on the run or from a vehicle so much easier. Plus, any night time hunting (like rabbits) I have a huge advantage with a sight like this. My brother in-law, who is in the infantry and about to deploy to Iraq for his second tour), says that you shouldn't need magnification until 300 meters +. I know that with his AK-47 and an Aimpoint red-dot, I could hit an 1 foot square iron target at 200 yards free-shooting.
If I remember, I will take some pics shooting next weekend and post 'em.

 Re: AR-15!!!
There are definitely plenty of hogs around to be had. Those things are tearing up Texas and multiply by the dozens.

Yes, I saw that on the news and it's not only in TX. Kick some hog ass. They are really devastating the south and are even being found along the keys.
