Rob, just wondering if you have had any problems and solutions as to which video file types the 360 will play, won't, and what you use to convert them.

I have had some playback issues but I am not at home and cannot think of the culprits but I am sure they are pretty well known.

This LINK lists the file types repective or media but I am not sure if it applies to extenders as well or if it is all just one in the same.

PS : I've just read about Transcode 360 which converts DIVX and XVID files on the fly so that
you're 360 can play them when using it as a Media Centre Extender. However, I am not sure it's still available or if it would work with Vista x64.

sorry I have been away for awhile trying to work overtime to get some stuff paid off.

Media Center Extender works great for all kinds of things.

The easiest thing to do is obviously convert file to something that's natively supported which can be tedious but I like better due to the organizing capabilities and having DVD covers in the movies tab.

http://tversity.com/ This is the program I would recommend using if you want to transcode on the fly just cause it flat out works every time on the xbox/ps3.

Windows 7 Media Center flat out rocks imo. I ditched the comcast DVR and have been only using my pc to watch/record TV for almost 6 months now and haven't looked back. There is a way to integrate Hulu Desktop if your interested I would check it out but it's not supported through extenders at the moment.
